Cross-MSDI Relationships

Elevation data relates to the following other MSDI framework themes:

  • Hydrography—Elevation data is commonly used in concert with hydrography data to create or align drainage patterns and hydrologic features within a mapping application.  By incorporating elevation data, hydrologist can model pour points, drainage basins, and stream channel information.
  • Climate—There is strong relationship between meteorological variables and topography in Montana. Topography is one input that drives the interpolation of meteorological variables between climate stations.
