Publishing and Archiving

The Structures and Addresses Framework data is exported on a quarterly basis, around the end of March, June, September, and December (the exact date varies). The dataset is subject to ongoing updates, which are made available to patrons through these exports.

The Structures and Addresses data is provided as downloadable statewide datasets in three different data formats: Esri file geodatabases (versions 9.3 and 10.x) and a shapefile. Metadata is provided in XML format. Also available is a Structures and Addresses web map service and a web mapping application. Address data from this theme is also made available via an Address Geocoding web service.

Structures and address data are used for everything from natural resource planning to recovery from natural disasters including floods, wildfires and earthquakes. Furthermore, address data are essential for delivery of government and private services such as the dispatch of emergency services and postal and package delivery.

Note: Structure and address point data are also a key component in NG9-1-1 systems. How MSDI Structures and Addresses may contribute to NG9-1-1 in Montana is under investigation.

A copy of the dataset is submitted to the Montana State Library archive at the end of each calendar year if the dataset was re-published since the last submission to the archive.
