The State Library's Topofinder and Digital Atlas applications have been retired due to state IT limitations with outdated server operating systems. A new Digital Atlas application (including most of the heavily-used Topofinder functions) should be online in early August (a beta version should be available about July 28). If you need us to accomplish a mapping, searching, or reporting task for you during this interim period, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 406-444-5354.
Please contact us if you want to be notified when the Digital Atlas beta version is available and also if you are able to provide feedback via user testing on the beta version.
Some data and functions of the Topofinder are available in other places. Reports and maps on land cover, wetlands, and public land management are available from the Natural Heritage Program Map Viewer, which also allows you to view NAIP aerial photos from 2005, 2009, 2011, and 2013. The Heritage map viewer also provides location search by latitude/longitude, State Plane, or UTM coordinates, geographic names, water body, or township, range, and section. Newer scanned U.S. Geological Survey topographic maps may be viewed with the ArcGIS Online Map Viewer.
